That Fine Madness

A series of oil paintings on canvas. A video and a Book

I live with Bipolar. Local to me, the Ashdown Forest is my muse. It provides grounding, security, and a sense that I am still here. It's cycles, vast views and changing weather are a great metaphor and reflection of the extremes of emotions and perceptions that are characteristic of  the bipolar. It is within the bipolar that the sublime has its roots for me. Below are my paintings, including a view of them hanging Also part of the, ongoing, That Fine Madness project are the book and the video seen below. The contents of the book were the result of a walk with a video camera. The video captures the everyday, routine, nature of my engagement with the Ashdown Forest.
